Empowering Youth Voices: AI and Digital Skills for Change

Skills are the foundation for building confident, capable future leaders who can drive innovation and societal progress. Developing relevant skills empowers young people to access better job opportunities, adapt to changing industries and contribute meaningfully to the communities. World Youth Skills Day, celebrated on July 15th, highlights the role of skill development in youth empowerment. It raises awareness about the need to equip young individuals with technical, digital and soft skills essential for the dynamic workforce. This day inspires governments, organizations and educators to invest in youth training programs, ensuring a brighter, more inclusive future. The IT Club – Aavishkaar commemorates World Youth Skills Day with an inspiring event centered on the theme, “Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills.”

In the era where technology is reshaping every facet of life, equipping young minds with the right skills is a necessity. This occasion aims to ignite creativity, critical thinking and awareness among students, empowering them to harness artificial intelligence (AI) and digital skills to build a brighter and inclusive future through role play for the given topics.

1. AI in Digital Content Making: Employment Opportunity or Data Privacy Threat?

In this roleplay, students portrayed content creators, AI developers and privacy advocates debating the dual-edged nature of AI in digital content creation. While AI-driven tools can streamline creative processes and open new career paths for youth, concerns about data misuse and privacy infringement loom large. This scenario encouraged participants to weigh innovation against ethical considerations, fostering a balanced perspective.

2. AI for Education: Pros and Cons Students enacted the roles of teachers, students and educational policy makers discussing AI’s potential to personalize learning, automate administrative tasks to education globally. Simultaneously, they addressed challenges of digital divides, over-reliance on technology and the risk of diminishing human interaction in classrooms.

3. Digital Skills: The Need of the Hour This scenario focused on a community meeting where youth leaders advocate for widespread digital literacy programs. They demonstrated how acquiring digital skills is essential for employability, entrepreneurship and active citizenship. They will also explore barriers like unequal access to technology and propose solutions to bridge these gaps.

Through these roleplays, students demonstrated their acting and communication skills deeply with the ethical, social and technical dimensions of AI and digital skills. The event served as a platform for peer learning and collaboration, inspiring students to explore careers in AI, data science, digital marketing, and other tech-driven fields.
