The workshop curated a deep dive into Microsoft Power BI — a business analytics platform that empowers users to transform raw data into compelling visual stories and share actionable insights seamlessly across organizations. Mr. Singamengaged the session by unpacking the core elements of Power Query, Data Model and Report View in Power BI Desktop interface. He illustrated how these components harmonize to create a fluid and efficient data analysis process, setting the stage for students to grasp the tool’s potential.
Moving beyond the basics, the workshop explored connecting Power BI to a variety of data sources, including Excel spreadsheets, SQL databases and Cloud platforms. The session highlighted the transformative capabilities of the Power Query Editor, demonstrating how it can cleanse, reshape and prepare data for insightful analysis.
Delving into advanced analytics, the speaker introduced Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) — a powerful formula language within Power BI, where DAX formulas create custom calculations and measures, turning raw numbers into strategic insights.
