Theatre has long stood as a powerful medium for storytelling, cultural expression, and societal introspection. From its origins in ancient civilizations, it has served not only as a source of entertainment but also as a dynamic platform for voicing social concerns and sparking transformative dialogue. Theatre has played a crucial role in movements such as the freedom struggle—becoming a tool for mobilization and a voice for the marginalized.
In this spirit, the Theater Club - Adhrith commemorated this enduring legacy with a special event on March 27, 2025 on the eve of World Theatre Day. The stage came alive as Aurorians embraced the power of performance, channeling creativity and expression into a celebration of theatre's timeless impact.
Students from the MBA and MCA programs united in a series of powerful performances, blending their diverse perspectives into a vivid theatrical mosaic with skits, mime and dances. Through their plays, student playwrights confronted colonial narratives and explored themes of national identity, presenting stories that challenged conventional views and celebrated resistance. The performances tackled contemporary issues like social inequality, discrimination, and environmental concerns. A rich variety of genres took the stage-from hard-hitting dramas that explored into urgent societal challenges to light-hearted comedies that lifted spirits and sparked laughter. Each piece was crafted to engage the audience emotionally and intellectually, showcasing the multifaceted nature of theatre.
The event underscored theatre’s ongoing relevance as a catalyst for social change. These performances reminded everyone that each story holds the potential to connect, to resonate, and to empower-especially those voices often left unheard.
