Every year, January transforms India into a hub of awareness and action during National Road Safety Month. The nation unites under the theme "Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha”, during the month of January emphasising that secure roads are the foundation of lives saved and futures protected. This campaign, organised by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), aims to reduce the alarming toll of road accidents by promoting safer driving habits nationwide. The Indian government initiatives, along with community involvement, can turn policy into a powerful movement that saves lives and reduces the burden of road accidents.
The NSS Club teamed with Uppal Police on 19th January, 2026, to connect with students and ignite a passion for safety. The police officials shared road safety rules, illustrating how simple changes like obeying traffic signals, wearing helmets and avoiding distracted driving can make a profound impact to a student gathering.
Looking ahead, the goal remains clear, achieving zero road fatalities by 2030, a vision championed by MoRTH. Every road user has a role, whether as a responsible driver, vigilant pedestrian or proactive citizen, to uphold safety standards. Spreading awareness about laws like the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019 and promoting responsible behaviour, India can steer toward a future where roads are not just pathways but safe corridors of life. When we prioritise safety, every journey becomes a story of life preserved by making safety a habit and turn India’s roads into symbols of responsibility, care and community. The session is attended by 158 students, faculty and staff.
