World Water Day Celebrations - 2025

"Jalameva hi jivam, jalena jivanti sarve, Jalena prithvi jivati, jalena jivam prabhu"- Life exists with water.

Water, often referred to as the elixir of life, is one of the most vital natural resources on Earth. It is indispensable to the survival of all living organisms and is deeply intertwined with the functioning of ecosystems, the health of populations, and the development of human societies. From drinking and hygiene to agriculture, energy production, and industrial processes, water plays a central role in sustaining life and driving progress.

As global populations grow and climate change accelerates, the demand for clean, safe water continues to rise while freshwater sources face unprecedented threats. One of the most pressing concerns today is the rapid melting of glaciers, which are among the largest natural reservoirs of freshwater on the planet. Glaciers not only regulate river flows and replenish aquifers but also support biodiversity and influence global weather patterns. Due to global warming, glaciers are retreating at an alarming rate, posing serious risks to ecosystems, livelihoods, and long-term water security.

Recognizing the urgency of this issue, the theme for World Water Day 2025 was "Glacier Preservation." This theme underscores the importance of protecting glaciers as a means of safeguarding freshwater resources for present and future generations. It serves as a global call to action—particularly aimed at young people—to become stewards of the environment and advocates for sustainable water management.

In orientation with this global initiative, the Nature Club "Adhira" of the institution took a proactive step to raise awareness and engage students meaningfully in the cause of water conservation. On March 24, 2025, an Art Competition was organized as part of the World Water Day celebrations. The event aimed to provide students with a creative platform to express their thoughts, concerns, and hopes regarding water conservation and the preservation of natural resources.

The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across various age groups and academic streams. Each artwork was a reflection of the student’s understanding of the theme and their emotional connection to the environment. From vibrant depictions of melting glaciers to imaginative portrayals of water scarcity and future Earth scenarios, the artworks conveyed powerful messages that resonated with both peers and faculty alike.

Beyond just an artistic showcase, the competition served a deeper purpose: to instill a sense of environmental consciousness and responsibility in the minds of young learners. By engaging them in meaningful reflection and creative expression, the Nature Club aimed to cultivate values of sustainability, empathy for nature, and the urgency to act against climate change. The event concluded with a short awareness session and prize distribution ceremony, where the best entries were acknowledged for their creativity and impact
