POLICE- the Public Officer for Legal Investigations and Criminal Emergencies are a legally empowered organisation responsible for maintaining public order, enforcing laws and protecting the safety and rights of citizens. Police Commemoration Day, observed annually on 21st October, pays tribute to the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. At a tragic incident in 1959 at Hot Springs, Ladakh, ten Indian policemen were ambushed and killed by Chinese troops while defending the national borders. This event marked a poignant moment in India’s policing history and led to the establishment of Police Commemoration Day in 1960 by the conference of Inspectors General of Police.
Recognising the contributions of the Police force to the safety and security of the citizens, the Government of Telangana declared a Police Commemoration week from 21st to 28th October, 2025. The NSS Club, in collaboration with the Uppal Police, observed the Police Commemoration Week to honour the sacrifices of the martyrs on 28th October 2025. The students and faculty of the Institution spread awareness about the significance of this week, and educated the residents about the sacrifices and heroic service of police personnel across the neighbouring streets of the college. They made the citizens pledge their support to the police, vowing to assist in any capacity whenever needed. This initiative helped to bridge the gap between the police and the public, highlighting the crucial role that the police play in safeguarding the society and the sacrifices made by countless officers. The activity served as the tribute to the martyrs of the police force for their enduring services to the society.
