Thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland located in one's throat, responsible for hormonal secretion and balance of various physiological parameters like regulation of body temperature, heartrate, mood, hunger and much more. An inappropriate activity of this gland due to changing lifestyles, stressful activities improper diet intake especially pertaining iodine deficiency in diet is resulting in minor to chronic health conditions among the people irrespective of their demographic stature. Malfunction of thyroid is one of the contemporary physiological ailment being faced by the people irrespective of the age, gender and locality. To create awareness on thyroid malfunctions, the Social Service Club of the institution organized a transformative Thyroid Awareness Medical Camp in association with Abott, a global healthcare companywhich is striving to 'Make India Thyroid Aware' on 26th April 2025.
Abottconducted thyroid tests to the faculty and students in a seamless manner producing authentic results in the form of digital records that serve as a base for future health plans related to thyroid disorders. Abott collected blood samples of around 65 faculty and 240 students and delivered the digital reports within 24 hours of sample collection. The team of medical experts also have presented the probable reasons for hypo-thyroidism and hyper-thyroidism and suggested preventive measures to avoid thyroid hormone imbalance in the blood. The medical camp created awareness among the students and faculty and guided them to have strong foundation of healthy life style that is utmost important for a healthy thyroid functioning.
