GOVERNING BODY

The Governing Body of the Institution is constituted as per clause 12.3 A of the University Grants Commission Conferment of Autonomous Status upon Colleges and Measures and Maintenance of Standards in Autonomous Colleges, 2023. The composition of the Governing Body for Institutions run by Society/Trust as prescribed by UGC guidelines, 2023 is;

Functions of the Governing Body:

Subject to the existing provision in the bye-laws of the respective Autonomous College and rules laid down by the State Government/Parent University, the Governing Body shall:

  • Guide the Autonomous College while fulfilling the objectives for which the College has been granted autonomous status
  • Initiate necessary measures for the development of academic and administrative facilities of the organisation
  • Approve new programmes of study leading to degrees and/or diplomas/certifications
  • Nomination of Industry and Academic Experts for the Academic Council
  • Scrutinise the suggestions of the Academic Council on various academic matters and approve the same on priority basis
  • Recruitment of Principal/Teaching Staff/ Administrative and other staff as applicable in accordance with the policies laid down by the UGC and State Government from time to time
  • Institute scholarships, fellowships, studentships, medals, prizes, and certificates on the recommendations of the Academic Council
  • To approve the annual budget of the Autonomous College and monitor the implementation of Budgetary allocations
  • Perform such other functions and institute committees as may be necessary and deemed fit for the proper development of the Autonomous College
  • Monitoring the Constitution and functioning of Finance Committee, Examination Cell and other statutory committees in the Autonomous Institution
  • Monitoring the Constitution and functioning of non-statutory bodies in the institution
  • Maintenance of academic and administrative standards in compliance with the statutory bodies
  • Initiate measures for Ranking and Accreditation of the Institution
